Founded on May 16, 1939, Sam Houston Electric Cooperative (Sam Houston EC) has been a key provider of electricity in East Texas for over eight decades. Originating from a vision of empowering local communities, the Cooperative was established by a group of dedicated farmers and rural residents. In the early 1940s, membership stood at just over 600, but has significantly expanded since. Presently, Sam Houston EC proudly serves 55,000 members and maintains 74,000 meters spread across regions in 10 counties.
